Downdate
I've discovered digital painting (see digitalart.org for examples) and wow, I'm amazed. I must learn how to paint. Oh, I've decided that my first major will be English Language and my second will be Computer Science. I've missed math really bad (yes, I'm weird :)) and it's a good major, so here we go.
School's good. I'm learning Quark in a publishing class. (PageMaker and InDesign are way better, but that's just my opinion. No, it's more than that, it's true. :)) And I'm already behind on homework. Spent two hours this morning transcribing and translating a Thai video. In those two hours I was only able to do 12 minutes of the video. Insane. I'll spend another few hours on it tomorrow and then finish it off Saturday morning. Translating Thai is fun, but the transcribing part is boooooooring. It's made me appreciate my real job like I never have before (and I love my job). Speaking of my job, we're running behind schedule on our launch but should be able to get volunteers extracting data by early next week. We're also starting work on a Basque database project, but that's all I can say about it right now. Mum's the word. (It's not top secret or anything, don't worry. :))
I went to my first BYU football game in seven or eight years last week. Thoughts: it was hot and bright, too bright for my indoor-adjusted mole eyes. Note to self: get sunglasses. Other thoughts: I felt kind of bad because I couldn't have cared less (or could have cared less) about the game. Guess that's what happens when you wake up at 4 a.m. ~sigh~ The left side of my face got a nice sunburn which has almost finished peeling, just in time for Saturday's game. With luck, we'll sit on the other side so I can get the right side of my face sunburned too. Final thought: I'd forgotten that football games are so beastly looooooooong. Four hours! That's longer than church! There are few things I can sit through for that long (Anne of Green Gables being one of them, but don't tell any guys that I said that ;)). And in two days I'll subject myself to it again. Can't wait till volleyball and basketball start... (I'm sure this next game will be better, though, and I'm not planning on waking up at 4:00 so I might even stay awake all the way through it.)
